Hmm. It seems interesting. I know Malice has a link in his sig, but I've been doing some reasearch, and it doesn't appear to be too shabby. I'll have to get into the open beta sometime.

Me too. Chances are you'll have to subscribe to one of those premium gaming sites to get a beta key though.

In the weekend beta now for pvp.

While it is locked at lvl 20, I am having a blast! They had to balance the rangers but I have been playing the Priest of Mitra and the Assassin classes mainly.

Oh, and for those interested in the States (US), Best Buy has the preorder boxes now for the Rhino Mount! (gogogogo)

So without breaking the NDA (too much anyway )

My biggest concern is loading screens. I've read you hit quite a few loading screens, and some of the maps can be crossed in as little as 5-10 minutes?

Well, the PVE area you get access to is simply the training grounds / starter missions. They get you acquainted with the controls and combos available to your class. So from that sense, yes it is a fairly short preview of the game. You leave the area at a max of lvl 5.

The main thrust of the weekend is PVP, with a kill everything mini game and a capture the flag minigame.

The loading time for me isn't bad. I'm running 2.33 GHz with a 8800 and it plays really smoothly.

I scored a fatality last night on my barbarian. It was AWESOME. Cut the assassin's head completely off!!!

Did you guys preorder for the bonus items, such as the mounts? I picked up the preorder from Best Buy (here in US). It comes with the Rhino mount.

I've not actually pre-ordered yet. I'm still deciding if it's worth paying out the little extra for the CE.

Is there a lot of loading screens while playing?

Hows the control system working out?

If you're allowed to say of course

Also, any idea's how much it is a month, or just along the same as most pay-to-play?

I find it odd that people still don't really know much of AoC, I've been following it since it was announced at E3...

I think I first joined their forums a few months after they opened, but I never stayed in touch with the game.

It takes too much energy to follow an MMO being make and no assurances that it'll come out right or go gold.

I'm too stingy to buy Pay-To-Play games lol :P Yeah it's US$15 per month.

While this was(is) a hugely promising game, something that could finally take me away from WoW, there are a lot of problems currently. Some comments :

1. The 1-16 leveling experience in Tortage was more polished than any MMO I've seen to date. No wonder they restrict your leveling so much in the Open Beta.

2. The quests, areas, mobs seem to be lacking as you level up higher. This is disappointing particularly because the game opens up a lot higher on. But you want more stuff to do.

3. The number of terrain glitches including falling through the world is too high considering this gets released in less than a month's time.

4. Many of the 'awesome innovative features' haven't been tested properly yet. Bar brawls were taken out, high end crafting hasn't been tested, sieges are still not that great.

5. System Requirements : They should typically settle upon the expected system requirements early in the development cycle. But they didn't mention anything till March, and now the game is shit on anything less than a dual-core, 2gig, 8800.

Ultimately the deal-breaker for me would be it not being a truly open world. Invisible walls, loading screens..forcing you from one area to another. One aspect I enjoy a lot about open MMOs is exploration, finding a little quest in a nook on my own and the general sense of freedom it offers.

But it's a great game and I'm not giving up on it yet.
